Dali - Freud. Obsession

Exhibition January 28 − May 29, 2022
The Lower Belvedere Gallery is preparing to open an exhibition "Dali to Freud. Obsession.".

An exhibit of more than 100 pieces, including paintings, surrealist objects, photographs, films, books, journals, letters and other documents, will present Dali's unique personality against the backdrop of his complex family and trace him from his discovery of Freud's works to his meeting with the psychoanalyst in exile in London on July 19, 1938.

The theories of Sigmund Freud clearly fascinated Dali, perhaps to the point of obsession, and his greatest desire was to meet his idol one day. At the insistence of the Austrian writer Stefan Zweig and the poet Edward James, Freud agreed to a meeting in London in July 1938. The exhibition illustrates the obsession with the psychoanalytic approach in the work of the Surrealists, especially as it appears in Dali's works.
