Roy Lichtenstein. History of Formation, 1948-1960.

Exhibition March 5 − June 5, 2022
The Columbus Museum of Fine Arts organizes an exhibition "Roy Lichtenstein. A History of Formation, 1948-1960.".

This will be the first major museum exhibition exploring the early work of one of the most celebrated American artists of the 20th century, including his formative years in Columbus, Ohio.

Visitors will see more than 90 early works of the author from the largest museums of the United States and private collections, appreciate Lichtenstein's keen interest in mass culture, his sense of humor and talent as a cartoonist, his passion for expressionism and abstraction, the provocative moods of the budding celebrity - a pop art star, creator of the amazingly recognizable "handwriting of six-year-olds" and one of the most expensive artists of the turn of XX-XXI centuries.
