may 13 at 17.00 in the Primorsky State Art Gallery opens the exhibition "60 years. Art faculty" dedicated to the anniversary of the Far Eastern State Institute of Arts. In 1962 the first in the country Far Eastern Art Institute was opened in Vladivostok. It gave higher education in different specialties of three kinds of art: music, theater and painting. In the early years, the art department teachers were graduates of the Repin Institute of Painting, Sculpture and Architecture and the Surikov Moscow State Art Institute. Subsequent generations of famous Primorye artists were brought up already by graduates of DVGII.
The exhibition includes works from the collection of the Primorsky State Picture Gallery, the methodological fund of the art department of the Far Eastern State Institute of Arts and from the workshops of artists. Chronologically the project covers the period from 1968 to 2022.
The exhibition introduces the works of all generations of professors and associate professors of the Faculty of Arts: V.A. Goncharenko, V.N. Doronin, V.I. Bochantsev, K.I. Shebeko, S.A. Litvinov, Y.V. Sobchenko, N.P. Zhogolev, A.I. Pleshivtsev, V.A. Maximov; painters who worked in the 2010s - S.M. Cherkasov and E.E. Makeev to the contemporary faculty - N.A. Popovich (Dean of the Faculty of Arts since 2004), I.I. Butusov, I.B. Obukhov, A.V. Glinschikov, V.V. Medvedeva A.A. Enina, M.S. Kovalenko.
Today, as always, the Art Department of the Far Eastern State Institute of Arts organizes creative trips, internships, and plein airs for students; the works participate in youth projects and exhibitions based on the results of plein airs. The "Art-Vladivostok" international competition has become a traditional event for professional creative youth in Russia and Asia-Pacific countries, and in 2021 it was held for the seventh time.
Diploma paintings - paintings and graphics of teachers, students and graduates - are successfully exhibited in museums and galleries in Russia, at international art venues.
For sixty years, the Art Department of DVGII has been successfully preserving and continuing the traditions of academic art education, providing training of masters of fine arts, artist-teachers in the Far Eastern region of Russia.
The exhibition will run until June 14.
