Pharaohs of Two Lands. A History of the Kings of Napata

Exhibition April 28 − July 25, 2022
Louvre, Paris invites you to visit the exhibition "Pharaohs of Two Lands. A History of the Kings of Napata".

In the eighth century BC, a kingdom grew up around the Nubian capital of Napata. Around 730 BC, the Nubian ruler Pianhius conquered Egypt and founded the 25th dynasty of kings who ruled for more than fifty years a kingdom stretching from the Nile Delta to the confluence of the White and Blue Nile. The most famous of these kings is Pharaoh Taharqa.

The exhibition highlights the importance of this vast kingdom located in what is now northern Sudan. It is organized in connection with the Louvre's archaeological campaign in Sudan, which focused for ten years on the site of Muweis and then moved some 30 kilometers north to El Hassa, near the Meroe pyramids.
