Capogrossi. Behind the scenes

Exhibition September 20 − November 6, 2022
The National Gallery of Modern Art in Rome presents a major exhibition "Capogrossi. Behind the Scenes.".

The exhibition includes more than thirty paintings and about twenty works on paper by Giuseppe Capogrossi (Rome, March 7, 1900 - October 9, 1972), one of the fathers of informal painting and Italian art of the twentieth century.

The exhibition is timed to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the artist's death and, after a break of more than 20 years, brings the author's works back to Rome. The exhibition is complemented by archival materials from the artist's documentary collections, photographic portraits of Capogrossi with prominent figures of the time, exhibition catalogs, journals, letters and newspaper articles reconstructing the relationships created by the artist. 25 Italian museums are taking part in the project.
