Two centuries Petipa

State Central theatre Museum A. A. Bakhrushin is the project "Two centuries of Petipa". The exhibition is part of the celebration in Russia of the 200th birthday of the prominent choreographer Marius Petipa.

Marius Petipa (1818-1910), a distinguished ballet dancer, brilliant choreographer, theatre worker and teacher, "trendsetter" in the ballet world, which determined its development for many years. In the world of ballet talking about it – "the Frenchman, who devoted his life to the Russian ballet." Work in Russia brought him international fame and made his name immortal. On the stage of the Russian theaters, he staged over 60 ballets, many of which made up the Golden Fund of choreographic art and dancing to the well-known operas.

Among the exhibits, more than 300, archival documents, photographs, barn account books, posters, paintings and drawings, including more than 40 costumes A. Charlemagne, sketches K. Waltz, I. Vsevolozhsky, A. Golovin and other famous artists and theatrical designers of the era. On the screens shows excerpts from the choreographic legacy of Petipa, preserved on film, among them rare and well-preserved record of "Sleeping beauty", made in the 20-ies of XX century.

In addition to meeting Petipa Bakhrushin Museum, the exhibition presents exhibits from the Bolshoi theatre Museum, RGALI, St. Petersburg state Museum of theatrical and musical art.
