"What we saw" Alexander, Olga and Katya florenskys

Exhibition March 6 − April 9, 2018
"...unscrupulous attempt
to climb into the next class dimension"
Vladimir Nabokov

Some time ago I made a series of landscapes in boxes (that's part of some ironic memories of dioramas in natural history museums), try to add painting another dimension.

I made a fair number of landscapes depicting various attractions from different parts of the world from Izborsk to new York, from Copenhagen to Valaam and Solovetsky Islands to London, using wooden crates and tin roofing.

At some point I figured I'll paint all these boxes. However, in the middle of my plan changed and I was dragged into this project desperately resisted Olga and Katya Florensky, which anyway have been cooperating for many years. It seemed to me that this "artisanal" method can give a more acute and less predictable result.
