Stairs to Klimt. Eye to eye with Klimt

Exhibition February 13 − September 2, 2018
The centenary of the death of Gustav Klimt (1862 – 1918) Museum of art history in Vienna offers visitors a closer look to meet you with its unique paintings, located at a height of twelve meters above the floor. They are an integral part of the luxurious decor of the main staircase.

As in 2012, above the main staircase in the Museum re-erected a huge bridge, weighing four tons, so that the lovers could get access to this wonderful cycle. The paintings, commissioned by Emperor Franz Joseph and completed by Gustav Klimt, his brother Ernst and their friend Franz von MAh depict important periods of art history.

Simultaneously with the bridge Klimt in the Museum shows one of the masterpieces of the famous "the Naked truth" (1899). The picture belonged to a critique of German Bars, a loyal friend and defender in the press of Vienna secessionists.
