Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin. To the 140th anniversary of the birth

An exhibition has opened at the State Russian Museum “Kuzma Sergeevich Petrov-Vodkin. To the 140th anniversary of the birth "dedicated to one of the geniuses of the twentieth century, whose work had a considerable influence on the culture of his era.

In the halls of the Benoit Corps, visitors can see the works of the artist, covering all periods of his creative biography, works of both famous and forgotten, which are in collections of various Russian museums and private collections. For the first time next to the works from the permanent exhibitions of the Russian Museum andTretyakov Gallery etudes and sketches to them will be presented, which will allow viewers to follow firsthand the process of the artist’s work.
The exhibition includes about 250 paintings and drawings, as well as illustrations, sketches, theatrical scenery and a painted plate (a unique example of the artist’s decorative and applied arts) from the collections of the State Russian Museum, the State Tretyakov Gallery, Saratov Art Museum. A.N. Radishcheva, Petersburg Theater Museum, Museum of Theater Art. A. A. Bakhrushina, State Hermitage Museum, regional art museums, private collections of St. Petersburg and Moscow.
Among the works from different collections, masterpieces of the artist will be shown, such as “Bathing a Red Horse”, “Our Lady of Tenderness of Evil Hearts”, “Petrograd Madonna”, “Death of the Commissioner”, “Anxiety” and others.
