Exhibition "Street stories"
June 14 - July 1, 2018

Central House of Artists, Krymsky Val, 10
3rd floor, 17 rooms
Opening - June 16, at 17-00

The attention of modern artists to the urban environment is not accidental. The city is not just a giant piggy bank of historical and architectural artifacts, symbols, opportunities and challenges. Representing an anthropogenic landscape, the city is a “second nature”, in which even the primary elements are transformed. Earth, fire, water and air undergo significant metamorphosis in the city, acquiring additional meanings and meanings.
The project Artcultivator presents the exhibition Street Streets, a story by Russian artists about the matter and spirit of the city. In the format of "urban stories", the authors argue about its various incarnations - be it an anthill city or a battlefield, a refuge, a jungle or a nativity scene. The presented palette of genres and styles gives the viewer a wide range of author's interpretations, allowing you to reflect on your own existence, as well as on trends in art.
Is there a border between a city and a person? How does a citizen change under the influence of the city, its architecture, light, sounds, smells and vibrations? How does art interpret the urban environment and how adequate is this interpretation? Can an artist, without interfering with the physical body of a city, influence the reproduction of his culture?
The exhibition presents more than 50 works - painting, drawing, sculpture, as well as installation and video art.
