Florence and its artists. From Giotto to Leonardo da Vinci

Exhibition October 18, 2018 − January 27, 2019
At the exhibition«Florence and its artists. From Giotto to Leonardo da Vinci» in the Old Pinakothek of Munich collected about a hundred masterpieces of the XV century. The exhibition presents artistic innovations that originated in the Renaissance homeland, and the works of its cult masters. Magnificent paintings, sculptures and drawings provide a multifaceted understanding of the conceptual worlds and the working methods of these artists.

Artists at the Medici court in Florence were carried away by new themes, forms and techniques. They enthusiastically explored reality, searched for the laws of harmony and beauty, portrayed nature and studied the works of antiquity. At the same time, they achieved an unprecedented variety of forms of artistic expression not only for secular narrative scenes and portraits, but also for religious paintings.
