Lev Mezhberg. Exhibition of works from the collections of his friends

Lev Leonidovich Mezhberg is an artist who, in his lifetime, gained recognition in the world. Mikhail Shemyakin, a man not very generous to the praise, called Lev Mezhberg “the best colorist in modern world painting”. In the World Club of Odessa passes it monographic exhibitionwhich collected dozens of paintings by the artist from the collections of his friends.
His paintings were bought by the Tretyakov Gallery, the museums of Kiev and Odessa, and collectors. But in 1973, the artist decided to go to the United States. His works are interested in American galleries, his paintings were sold at Sotheby's, in particular, the great landscape “Bukhara”. Finally, Lev Mezhberg was the first foreign artist whose exhibition was shown in the White House.
Today, the works of Lev Mezhberg in Odessa are kept in the Art Museum, the Museum of Modern Art (MCIS), the Museum of Private Collections named after Bleshunova, in private galleries, in many personal collections.
