A native of the city of Kungur of the Perm region.
In 1986 he graduated with honors kungursk art College majoring in "the stone Carver". Since then engaged in manufacturing of sculptures made of wood and stone. Works of Alexey Gubanova known in many cities of Russia, Tatarstan and Bashkortostan in the cities of Sochi, Adler, Magadan, Belgorod, in the cities of Perm region and in the city of Perm and Kungur.
Since 1995 began to participate in various international festivals on making sculptures from wood, stone, ice and snow. He was awarded various prizes and awards for their works. In may 1996, for creative achievements, in honor of the visit of Patriarch Alexy to the city of Kungur awarded the jubilee medal dedicated to the 600th anniversary since the death of the Saint and educator Stephen of Perm.
Since 1996, creates a creative workshop.
In 2000, a meeting of the territorial art-expert Council Alexey Gubanova awarded the title master of folk Handicrafts.
