I am an artist from the British islands of Guernsey, creating semi-abstract serene landscapes and figurative paintings inspired by anthropology.
In my landscape works, I hope to capture scenes that evoke dreamlike recollections of favorite places or memories and perhaps represent worlds entirely different. Focused areas of foreground detail and dancing abstraction give way to translucent horizons enveloping indistinct shapes in the distance that you can get lost in. My figurative works are often inspired by the psychological themes I explore, combining traditional, abstract and symbolic techniques to create surreal expressive settings. There is both serene stillness and fluid movement.
I was born in England and raised on the island of Guernsey. I began my apprenticeship with award-winning jeweler and designer Catherine Best, where I gained invaluable experience combining my handmade skills with design to create luxury bespoke pieces. My continued desire to work in the visual arts led me to England in 2006 to complete a BTEC Foundation Diploma in Art and Design (UCA Canterbury), followed by a BA (Hons) in Illustration (University of the Arts Bournemouth), graduating in 2011. I thrive on diversity and exploring mediums that I can easily work with. After freelancing in illustration and graphic design, I aim to create original work of my own expression. In 2015, I moved to rural Hungary near Lake Balaton and discovered oil paint, which has since allowed me to greatly expand and intuitively develop my practice.
