Painter, people's artist of the USSR (1967). In 1953 he graduated from Kyiv art Institute, where he studied with K. Trohimenko. Author of paintings dedicated to the events of the civil war. Since 1968 he teaches at the Kiev art Institute.

Master of genre paintings of military and revolutionary-Patriotic themes, landscape. Born in the village Earthwork Farm in Saratov region. From 1939 he studied at Leningrad art school at the Academy of arts of the USSR. A 16-year old went to the front, became the "son of the regiment" 1st Ukrainian front. At the end of the great Patriotic war attended drawing lessons at the Kiev art school. Shevchenko, from 1947 he studied at KHI have trohimenko K., Titov, K. Yeleva, M. Sharonov. In 1957 for the painting "In the valleys and on the hills" which was exhibited at the national exhibition in the state Tretyakov gallery received the silver medal of the USSR Ministry of culture. In 1960 – 1970s he worked on paintings, devoted to the historical attractions and the Russian North (Rostov, Novgorod, Suzdal etc.), carried out a large number of lyrical sketches. Participant of numerous art exhibitions. A member of the artists Union of the USSR from 1957, was repeatedly elected Secretary of the Board of the Union of artists of the USSR and Secretary of the Board of the USSR Union. The honored worker of arts of the USSR since 1964, people's artist of the USSR since 1967. From 1973 he taught at KHI, since 1976 – Professor. Corresponding member AH the USSR since 1978, State prize laureate of USSR them. Shevchenko 1984. Awarded the order "badge of Honor", "Labor red banner", "Patriotic war" II degree and medals. He lived and worked mainly in Kiev.
