Russian architect, honored artist of the Republic (1927). Academician of architecture (1885) and member (1893) of the St. Petersburg Academy of arts. Son Of N. L. Benois, brother of A. N. Benoit. Studied in the Petersburg Academy of arts (1875-1879) by A. I. Rezanov, I. D. Grimm, A. I. Krakau. Founding member (1903) and honorary Chairman of the society of architects-artists, editor of the journal "Zodchiy" (1892-1895).

While studying at the Academy of fine Arts received a medal in 1877 - a small consolation; in 1878 - 1 silver; in 1879, 1 gold for the program: "nursing home per 1,000 cheloveynik. ranks and 50 officers." In 1878 graduated from the course Sciences. In 1885, the title of academician; in 1892 Professor of architecture. Member of the Academy of Arts from 1893 Rector B. H. The most important works of the architect — the Church over the grave of I. Gromova in the Novodevichy convent in St. Petersburg new Orthodox Cathedral in Warsaw, the Church in the village of Groussay, the estate of Mr. Nechayev-Maltsov, home, account Bank, an insurance society "Russia", Mr. Nechayev-Maltsov, the branch of the Moscow Bank, St. Petersburg. Son Of Nicholas Leontyevich Benois. Academician of architecture (1885), member of the Imperial Academy of arts (1893). Honored art worker of the RSFSR (1927).

He graduated from the Imperial Academy of arts with a Grand gold medal (1879). The editor of the journal "Zodchiy" (1892-1895). Founding member (1903) and honorary President (1922-1928) of the society of architects-artists.

Designed in various historic styles. Among the buildings of the Court singing chapel in St. Petersburg (1886-1889), the Church in Gus-Khrustalny (1891-1902), in Darmstadt (1897-1899), the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral in Warsaw (1894-1912, dismantled in 1920-1926), clinic, D. O. Ott (1899-1904), the Church Notre Dame de France (1907-1909, with M. M. Peretyatkovich) and the West hall of the Russian Museum (1914-1919, with the participation of S. O. Ovsyannikov) in St. Petersburg. In 1910-1913, together with M. M. Peretyatkovich and A. E. by Enakieve has developed a draft urban development of St. Petersburg. The author of the watercolors, cuttlefish, autolithography.

He taught at the Drawing school of the OPH (1879-1884), the Institute of civil engineers (1884-1892, 1920-1927), the Imperial Academy of arts (Professor since 1892), at the Free art studios (Professor from 1918). Since 1893 - the head of personal workshop Higher art school at the Imperial Academy of arts. Its rector in 1903-1905 and 1911-1918. Among his students was A. E. Black, V. G. gelfreikh, N. E.
