The Art Gallery "Attic of Artists" has a long and eventful history.
The realization of the need to create a democratic gallery, open to all artists, came to the founders of the future "Attic of Artists" in the last century, in 1997.
There were many disputes and doubts about the viability of such an art project. And finally, in the winter of 2001, the idea of creating a gallery that has no analogues in St. Petersburg was finally formed.
But officially the birthday of our art space can be called May 18, 2001, it was on this spring sunny day that the gallery opened its doors to visitors and artists in the attic of an old house on the Petrograd side.
What is the uniqueness of the "Attic of Artists"?
Throughout our existence, we are open to cooperation with any artists, both professional and eminent, as well as young ones who are just starting their creative career. In 2005, within the framework of the annual international festival "Master Class", the Art Gallery "Mansard of Artists" was awarded the honorary title of "People's" for its loyal policy towards authors and affordable, sometimes really "folk" prices.
It was this policy that made it possible to gather within the walls of the gallery space such a rich and diverse collection of author's paintings not only by St. Petersburg artists, but by authors from other cities of Russia and abroad.
That is why many of our visitors come to us from year to year, knowing for sure that we will definitely have the very only picture that will delight them at home. That is why we are recommended to friends and acquaintances.
Over the years, a lot has changed, for example, the “Attic of Artists” is no longer in the attic. In 2004, we went down to the first floor to be closer and more accessible to both buyers and authors. And later they completely moved to another building, on Bolshaya Pushkarskaya-10, in the Svetoch Loft.
But our openness towards all artists is unchanged, our storerooms are full of a wide variety of paintings, all of them can be seen in the electronic catalog on the gallery's website. For the convenience of visitors, we opened our own framing workshop and are proud of the quality of the frames we make.
And yet, we are all also on our beloved Petrogradka.
