The Samara Regional Museum of History and Local Lore is one of the oldest museums of the Volga region located in Samara. The history of the museum began on January 29, 1880. The emergence of a public museum in Samara was initiated by the outstanding Samara public figure Peter Vladimirovich Alabin.

The museum collection contains more than 200 thousand museum objects. The museum has rich archaeological, natural science collections (paleontological, mineralogical, zoological, botanical), expressive historical, everyday and ethnographic collections. The numismatic collection, the collections of a rare book of the 18th – 19th centuries, documents of the 18th – 20th centuries, cold steel and firearms of Russia, as well as the countries of the West and East (XIV – XX centuries) are interesting.
