Orenburg Regional Museum of Fine Arts was founded in 1960, opened in 1961. The museum is located in a building built at the beginning of the 19th century according to the project of the architect Mikhailo Malakhov for the City Duma.

The museum’s collection contains works of ancient Russian, Russian, Soviet and Western European art from the end of the 16th century to the present day, including painting, graphics, sculpture, decorative and applied art.

The main concept of the museum is a reflection of the artistic life of the region in the general context of the development of Russian national culture. A significant place in the collection is occupied by the works of Orenburg painters, as well as exhibits, one way or another connected with local history and culture.
