The series "Alphabet for two". 1993-1995

"People's lives remains in the letters." While working as the chief artist of one of the Central Newspapers of Kiev, in 1993, Nikolai Sednin receives the order for the design of this newspaper, which should reflect the new state policy of Ukraine. Studying the history and symbolism of the ancient Slavs, the artist creates alphabet based on one of the oldest versions of the Trident Prince Rurik. Turning an ancient symbol from different angles, or specularly reflecting, in some part, created the uppercase letters of the alphabet and a decorative frieze to decorate each letter. The draft submitted by the chief editor of the newspaper, at the city Council meeting, causing a scandal, the artist accused of nationalism and dismissed from office.
Nikolai Sednin returned to the project several years later, while studying sacred symbols, emblematics, petroglyphs and ancient art of the peoples of the East. Each letter of the alphabet is made into a separate arrangement with erotic symbols of the male and female. In 1996, the publishing house in Odessa "Version" was released collector's edition of the book "ABC for two", which also included sketches for the cycle. In 2010 in Moscow, based on the series of "Alphabet for two", made by the eponymous video.
