Virtuosity and imagination. Prints by Rembrandt from the collection

Exhibition"Virtuosity and imagination. Prints by Rembrandt from the collection" in the Museum Boijmans van Beuningen presents more than 60 of the most beautiful prints created by the master of the Dutch Golden age. This exceptional selection of landscapes, religious and genre scenes, portraits and self-portraits, which were first to evaluate after the recent renovation.

"Highlights" of the exhibition – some of his most innovative works: "Landscape with three huts along the road", "St. Jerome under a willow tree" and "Three crosses". All of these prints stored in the Museum's own collection and on display together for the first time.

The works of Rembrandt are complemented by prints, which was his source of inspiration. Prints of the master is especially interesting spontaneous circulation with lines, shadows and light, as well as the frequent use of dry needles.

The first etching Rembrandt created before he was 20 years old, and throughout my career, has produced more than 300 publications. Graphic work, due to their availability compared to paintings and drawings, was the main driving force behind his fame throughout Europe. The name of one of masterpieces "Sheet of 100 guilders" – indicate how much they are valued by collectors of that era.
