Yale University Art Gallery holds an exhibition
"At the Founding of Art: 150 Years - Women at Yale University.".
The exhibit showcases the outstanding artistic accomplishments of an impressive roster of women artists who graduated from Yale University: paintings, sculptures, drawings, prints, photographs and videos.
The exhibition is organized to commemorate two important events - the 50th anniversary of coeducation at Yale College and the 150th anniversary of the first female students who came to study at the Yale School of Fine Arts when it opened in 1869. Beginning with Josephine Miles Lewis, the very first student, the exhibition highlights the work of more than 80 female artists.
