Description of the artwork «Portrait of Paul III and his grandsons»

Paul III made two of his grandsons (14 and 16) members of the cardinal Collegium, the high officials of the papal office and owners of the richest episcopi. Another of his grandson, Ottavio Farnese, who had married an illegitimate daughter of Charles V, received in hereditary possession of the Duchy of Camerino, which he lost to his father Pietro Luigi, and he received the Duchy of Castro. Son, Pietro Luigi, the Pope entrusted the post gonfalonier (commander of the Papal army) Church.
