Description of the artwork «Rain umbrella»

The title of the painting – in the literal and figurative meanings fully correspond to the content. Autumn rain. Chilly and cold. Cold hands. Wrapping fragile shoulders a little to be warmed, a little girl from a poor family holding an umbrella. That's all. Unpretentious, seemingly banal plot. But the first impression of the routine – seeming. Plastic paintings, her artistic voice, completely subordinated to the idea of "everything ingenious is simple". Maria, leaving aside all parts and accessories, looking at my character closely, not through the prism of airspace and perspectives, and brings it to the viewer. Seems to be inviting the viewer to dialogue, not afraid to show close-up of her character. Not childishly anxious face, full of anxiety eyes. That just is not concluded in these eyes! Future - where is it, what? What's ahead? Suffering? The struggle for survival? Fleeting happiness?

Maria looks at himself, showing himself talking with himself in this picture. Her eyes, her look, her experience, the Colour scheme is monochrome. Only a shimmering pearlescent colors. No bright spots. Neither impressionistic dynamics. No jerky strokes. Authentic feel, the conversation with themselves and the audience – what could be more truthful and sincere in painting ?

Maupassant on her grave said, “It was the only rose in my life. Her way I would be strewn with roses, knowing that it will be so bright and so short!"
