Description of the artwork «Flowers»

"Flowers" Natalia Goncharova in 2008 at Christie's London auction went for $ 10.9 million and at the time became the most expensive painting made by a woman.

The painting at the junction of Cubo-futurism, primitivism, Fauvism and Luisma. From kubofuturizma here proprement image and a specific feature of this trend – metallic luster cylindrical forms. And at the same time the flowers are easily identifiable as flowers, and the glow of hot red, orange, yellow refer to Fauvism, with its wild colors and lucismo, depicting not objects, and they reflected the rays.

Typical of Goncharova expressiveness even allows nepredmetno bouquet to describe quite in detail. First, there's no doubt that we face is the bouquet, not flowers in the garden – metal cylinders talking about the idea of a vase. Bouquet is clearly not spring, no tenderness here and flourishing, it is a fierce, autumn, blazing finally. Partly in full bloom (back, left side), partially – aging (stem in the foreground is obviously falls off, showered, and behind him several of the same in the near future they can expect the same fate).

"Flowers" is not the only record of the cost in the work of Goncharova. In 2007, at Christie's primitivist painting "Picking apples" went for 9.8 million dollars, and then it was the highest amount paid for written by a woman work. This record was the following year's beaten "Flowers".
