"It takes me several weeks to decide which group of bottles will go well with colored table cloth... Then I have weeks to think about bottles, and yet often I'm wrong with the space. Maybe I work too fast?" - wrote Giorgio Morandi. As Cezanne by placing the apples in small coins, achieved the desired location of objects in space and harmony, Morandi moves, reverses, dismisses the excess, leads to the second plan or a premium on. He pulls the canvas and rubs the paint pigments.
In his workshop he kept the bottles, vases, cylinders, and parallelepipeds, various sized cups and jars – he deliberately focused on a limited set of objects, finding in them a combination of all possible visual experiences and emotional meanings. Vicesima items with plaster, it deprives them of transparency, wealth of reflections, glare, color, reflexes, virtually eliminating the volume and three-dimensionality. The materiality, weight, resistance of objects is not going away.
This still life, 1942 – a rare exception. This is a random song that you don't have to invent. One morning Morandi got out of bed and saw a group of objects "if they were lined up to get away from the old desktop". Depicted tilted table surface, a sharp long shadows create a sense that this whole silent design slides down, approaching the viewer, leaving no time to escape.
In a masterful visual game that plays Morandi, stroke texture and simple color palette sound harder and louder when they don't muffle lighting effects, story elements, complex shapes, extra parts.
