Description of the artwork «"Well, catch up!"»

"Well, wait!" - this Soviet animated series is still beloved by viewers to this day. The endless race of the Wolf after the Hare has been going on for more than fifty years, and Papanov's inimitable voice brings us back to the times when the trees were taller and the grass greener. In the title of the work "Well, Catch Up!" the artist seems to ironize the decades-long pursuit.

Once again we see on the canvas the multiplanarity and complex compositional solution so characteristic of Yuri's work, combined with the images of animated characters. Through the simultaneous use of broken sharp-angled figures and circles, Yuri manages to achieve visual balance. The arrangement of the figures in the canvas space immediately attracts the viewers' attention. The hare occupies the position above, he is placed by the artist in a white bubble, which surrounds the character like a protective field. The reliability of this small world is emphasized by the relaxed pose of the Hare, as if he is looking at the hustle and bustle of the endless chase from above and is absolutely sure that he will be able to escape unharmed once again. To depict the Wolf, Yuri chooses a dynamic pose; he is tired of the endless pursuit, but is ready to continue the race in just a second.

Will the Hare manage to get away with it once again? We can find the answer to this question in the very center of the canvas - the green arrows in the foreground, indicating the predator's movement, collide with the red star-shaped figure, often symbolizing blows and explosions. And, therefore, the running, as well as the story that has captured the attention of viewers for many years will continue.
