Alexander Polozov (AP) – painter of realism. The range of his work covers all genres of painting. The greatest strength and expressiveness he reaches monumental-themed works and portraits of his contemporaries.

Mr Polozov was born on 3 March 1947 in Vienna in the family of military personnel. After demobilization in 1948, the family settled in Leningrad. The first art education Alexander was in the city children's art school. Progress in painting and drawing allowed him immediately after graduation in 1966 to enter the Academy of arts. He studied in the Studio of Professor Alexander Dmitrievich Zaitsev, a student of Petrov-Vodkin, studying technique and attains the secrets of Russian classical school. Immediately after graduation in 1972 from service in the army. Creative life during this period is not interrupted. Alexander assembles material for future paintings, the guards watching the landscapes of our homeland. He is interested in the combination of personal and statutory services, human, and sense of duty. The authenticity of the experiences, the depth and strength of feeling manifested in the film "Clockwise. Song wagon wheels". For this picture of him in 1979 was awarded the silver medal of the Academy of arts and creative trip to Italy.

In 1975 A. Polozov becomes a member of the artists Union, and since 1992 headed the creative and exhibition sector section of the painting. In the same year organizes the Guild of painters of Saint-Petersburg. It helps the artists in the exhibition activities and contributes to the preservation of the realistic school of painters in our city.

Creative communication and personal friendship with the artists of our time Yaroslav Nikolaev Yury M. Talinum, Alexei Gritsai, Eugene Cibrian helped in the work.

Exceptional talent and strength of character determined the creative credo of the artist: "to Learn from life and no one can imitate." In life's journey decided the basic creative principles A. Polozova:

– without saving the tradition of no full-fledged art;

– the basis of creativity is defined and unchanged, this inside – constant movement;

– genuine innovation is inseparable from the life, ideas of beauty and goodness.

Built in painting can only be done on the basis of the study of material life; our XX century with its innovation and the new ways in painting – just a brief moment – "micron" in the development of art, the artist says.

Range of paintings A. P. wide: thematic canvases, portraits, landscapes. The greatest strength and expressiveness, the artist reaches in the monumental-themed works. The following should be noted: "the Blacksmith's shop. The Kirov factory" (H., M., 170х125, 1976), "Help on the way" (H., M., 120х226, 1977), "labor day" (H., M., 165х165, 1978), "Time. Song wagon wheels" (H., M., 110х333, 1979), "Tour of the hot shop" (H., M., 235х191, 1981), "Mom, Hello. Triptych" (H., M., 96х78, 96х240, 96х78, 1984).

What is characteristic of these paintings? First of all, the skill of composite solutions, harmony of all the parts and most importantly – the effect of real presence. Discreet color, no color effects, the accuracy of the details – all aimed at creating uniformity and disclosure issues.

In "Beginning of day of work" submitted checkpoint of the Kirov factory. Our ordinary people and our (already gone) life. In the picture, every ordinary person becomes important, is personality. Implemented the psychology of characters. We see not only portraits of people, we feel the life experience of personnel working, searches and hopes of the young engineer, dreams of a young girl about the future. After these Central images view goes to the other person, and we find ourselves in them, such as we were before. The painting lives its own life even more vivid than reality.

But the most important thing in the works A. Polozova is the level of generalisation and objectivity in the display of events. The artist adopted approach allows to consider them as historical paintings in a contemporary theme. Them transferred and preserved the spirit of the time represented our era, which has already become history for us. Perhaps not exactly correct to the genre of historical to include only paintings on historical themes. Some works even on the topic of the past are perceived as theatrical scenery, others common, but not always historically correct view of his contemporaries underlined or emotional preferences of the artist.

In the paintings of A. P. our most recent past, which has already become history stored for us and our descendants. In his best works he appears before us historical painter of our time. All of this can be attributed to the portrait genre. Interesting portraits of the artists of our city: Arkady Raikin, Felix Rajewski – the actor of drama theatre, a journalist for the Saint Petersburg radio Irina Pavlova, ballerina Galina Mezentseva. The fidelity of images, psychology, individuality, self-restraint characterize these canvases.

Attract the attention of the portraits of the wife and son of the artist: "Tatiana" (H., M., 120х90, 1995); "Rodion" (H., M.,, 120х90, 1996). These works are full of warmth and personal feeling. But even they reflect a principle of generalization inherent in A. P.. In these portraits we see people of our time, our circle. We are looking and mentally unable to talk to them about our problems and hopes, our joys and concerns.

Creative achievements of Alexander Polozov was noted. In 1999 he was awarded the honorary title "Honored artist of Russia".
