The son of a carpenter from the Large Salt, it is thanks to his talent successfully graduated from the Penza art school and later for his services to the Russian art was promoted to the rank of court counselor with seniority. During the first world war bolsheselsky master teaches painting and drawing at the Highest Mariinsky female school Princess Volkonskaya. And in 1916 along with his family returns home in a Large Village, where, after the revolution became one of the organizers of the first art exhibitions of local artists. During the civil war paintings Bormasheva reflect the actual events of those difficult years of famine. For example, based on the paintings "On the island", "the turn of the salt water," based on a true story from the life of ballasalla forced to clear an abandoned well on the island to get the old salt from the water. Landscapes "Birches", "the Entrance to the monastery (the Boogie man)", "Last rays of the sun", "On the Volga", "Solonytsya", "Area of the Big Salts" and others devoted to discreet, but wonderfully lyrical nature of his native land, a singer of beauty which was before the end of his days bolsheselsky artist Vasily Barbashev.
