Fedorovich Kamensky

Russia • 1836−1913

A native of S. Forest St.-Petersburg. He studied at the Imperial Academy of arts (1852-1860) professors N. S. Pimenov, and I. P. Vitali. For the relief of "the return of the Regula from Rome to Carthage" (1860) received a gold medal and the title of class artist 1-th degree. As a pensioner of the Imperial Academy of arts (1863-1869) was trained in Italy in Rome and Florence. For the sculpture "Widow and child" (1867) he received the title of academician (1868). The author of sculptural portraits of F. A. Bruni and T. G. Shevchenko (1862), the statue "Young sculptor" (1866), "Children in the rain" (1869). He worked in Florence (1870-1871). Exhibited at the first exhibition TPHV (St. Petersburg, Moscow, Kiev, Kharkov, 1871-1872) sculpture "mushrooms". Presented to WHPW in Vienna sculptural group "the First step" (marble, 1872) received the medal "For the art" (1873). At the end of 1873 he went to the USA (new York, Kansas, Florida), where he built Clearwater in a small hotel on the ocean and the sculpture Studio (1885). Received 1st prize in the competition of sculptural projects for the Kansas state Capitol building and performed a series of reliefs. He taught sculpture at the American art school in new York (1889). Executed some portraits and reliefs for the Russian Department at the world exhibition in Chicago (1893). Created the sculptural group "Peace" (1908-1912). In Kalach his models were cast sculpture "mushrooms" and "Boy with fish", and Kusa (1898) – a statuette of "the Boy-sculptor".
