Art of America, Nevada's Choice: Community Choice

Exhibition November 7, 2019 − November 2, 2020
The Nevada Museum of Art was selected to participate in a five-year exhibition partnership with the Smithsonian Museum of American Art (SAAM), made possible by Art Bridges and the Terra Foundation for American Art.

The beginning of this multi-year multi-disciplinary partnership began with the campaign “Vote for Nevada”, Which was held over the course of the month and held on a community-wide basis (July 11 - August 11, 2019), where the public voted to determine which works of art would hang on the museum’s walls.

As candidates for participation in this race, SAAM presented eight paintings, including the works of Child Gassam, David Hockney, Edward Hopper, George Inness, Jacob Lawrence, Georgia O'Keefe, Angel Rodriguez-Diaz and Severin Rosen.

The top three winners included the "Southern ledges" of Gassam; Hopper's Ryder House; and Hibiscus O'Keefe.

These three treasures from an outstanding national collection of American art will be on display at Art of America, Nevada's Choice: Community Choice at the Nevada Museum of Art.
