Treasures of the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum. From Savrasov to Malevich

From May 1, the Primorsky State Art Gallery presents an exhibition project “Treasures of the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum. From Savrasov to Malevich ”. The exhibition acquaints residents and guests of the region with the oldest museum of the Volga region, with one of its most valuable collections - Russian fine art of the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries.
Opened to the public 125 years ago, the Nizhny Novgorod Art Museum is currently housed in three historical buildings and belongs to the best regional museums due to the level and diversity of the museum collection. Its collection includes about 12,000 museum items and includes collections of Russian, Western European and Oriental art. The museum is especially proud of the works of Russian painting of the 18th-19th centuries. (paintings by F.S. Rokotov, K.P.Bryullov, I.E. Repin, V.M. Vasnetsov, V.A.Serov, I.I. Levitan, N.K. Roerich, B.M. Kustodiev and others), as well as a collection of the Russian avant-garde (works by V.V. Kandinsky, K. S. Malevich, M. F. Larionov, N. S. Goncharova, O. V. Rozanova, etc.).
The exposition of the exhibition in Vladivostok includes more than thirty works by domestic artists, among them the works of the greatest masters of their time: Ilya Repin, Arkhip Kuindzhi, Vasily Surikov, Mikhail Nesterov, Boris Kustodiev, Alexander Rodchenko, Vladimir Makovsky and other artists. Among the undisputed masterpieces of the exhibition are: "The Rooks Have Arrived" by Alexei Savrasov, "A Timid Man" by Ilya Repin, "Mower" by Kazimir Malevich.
The exhibition displays all genres of painting: biblical, genre scenes, portrait, still life and landscape. The variety of names and works give visitors the opportunity to follow the step-by-step development of Russian art in the second half of the 19th - early 20th centuries.
