The Zifergauz Digital Art Gallery is currently hosting an exhibition-anthology by media artist Tony Aursler, Hypnosis and Other States.
This is the first major solo exhibition in Russia of one of the most significant media artists of recent decades.
Tony Oursler became world famous as the founder of the video-sculpture genre, in which he combines physical and psychological spaces, simultaneously affecting the viewer's vision and consciousness.
The exhibition "Hypnosis and Other States" brings together works by the artist that can support the important theme of his more than 25 years of reflection on images of hypnosis in art and pop culture. He raises the subject of the psychological and social relationship with visual technology, referring to studies of sleep and hypnosis conducted at various times by the most advanced scientists, from Freud and Jung to the famous St. Petersburg resident, Academician I. P. Pavlov. These are personal experiences in the form of fascinating installations, which transform the space into a unique light and sound environment and themselves claim to be hypnotic.
The exhibition will run until the end of March 2022, and admission is free.
