A major milestone in the development of the artist became creative trip to Pereslavl Zalessky, and working with famous masters, many years of friendship with restorers, studying and copying the frescoes Gury Nikitin in the Trinity Cathedral of the Danilov monastery.

Long trip to Italy in 1991 a completely new way has opened for Komova art of antiquity and the Renaissance. Recognized classics of the Renaissance, Carpaccio, Giotto, Piero della Francesca, Giovanni Bellini, Michelangelo mastered the language conventions of the form as masterfully as pattern. From this point of view, they look sharper than Picasso, Braque, Malevich and Kandinsky in the solution of those tasks that were declared in the twentieth century.

But the most inaccessible, according to Komova, the top is the old Russian monumental painting. Even a completely untrained person. never read the gospel, entering into the temple, which was painted by Andrei Rublev, Dionysius, or Gury Nikitin sense of awe and spiritual uplift. The language of meteoric proportions, brilliant rhyming color shapes and is surprisingly simple and succinct compositional solutions similar to the music Express the way much more powerful and deeper than could be expressed in words.

In his art, Ilya Komov based on the experience of the masters of ancient murals, French, and Russian painting of the early twentieth century. This combination, along with the gift of vision of space and picturesque freedom allows the artist to achieve the depth of the images and the urgent emotionality of his works.

According to I. Komova, in the art of the perfect sincerity, and inner simplicity, depth and integrity of the artistic language , a permanent solution to cosmetic problems. The main danger of emptiness, a literary and false gravitas. From this point of view, Stalin's socialist realism and the modern mainstream conceptualism and contemporary art - related conformist phenomenon. The real artistic process develops quite independently from noisy art fairs, markets and Biennale. A leader of the artistic process, today is a modern Spanish painting, for example , artists such as Regina Saura (Saura Regina)and Manel Anoro (Manel Anoro)/ Manel Anoro, according to Komov, is a distinguished master level of the great classics of world art history. Interesting modern American painters, for example, Barry Masteller ( Barry Masteller ). From masters of the past are still interesting Gury Nikitin, Alexei Morgunov from the group "Jack of diamonds", George Rublev, Matisse, Bonnard, Dufy and the German expressionists.

To be honest in art means to develop internally and for this it is necessary to follow the ways of our ancestors.
