Vasili Timofeevich Timofeev was educated at the Academy of arts as an auditor student.

In 1864 he was awarded the prestigious title of artist of the third degree for the work "the Boy-a Jew repeats the prayer." However discouraged young artist, who began independent work, not indulged. His path he found and headed for her first class artist in the second degree (1865) and the class artist of the first degree (1866).
