Biografia e informazioni

Portrait painter on enamel. In 1855, awarded the title of free artist for a portrait of Professor Briullov. (Kondakov)

The most famous master of enamel, at the time, was Nikolay Salnikov. He wrote of Fortov, is known for his ability to paint portraits. Master was born in 1817 According to Fortova learned skills to 1830, i.e. in 13 years. In 1850 he was a Sergeant of the 1st workshop Rostov Craft Council. In 1855 he received the title of class artist for a portrait of Briullov, academician of the Russian Academy of arts. Participated in Rostov the exhibition of 1880, Where, as he wrote A. A. Titov, presented the work of 10 years ago. Among them are the images of the Nativity, the Alexander Nevsky, portraits of Nicholas I, Alexander II, academician Vasiliev and a self-portrait. Last time in documents the name Salnikova is found in the same 1880 among merchants in the nominal list of voters of the Rostov town Council. The portrait of Bulatov M. L. from our collection, received from I. A. Purtova was a paper label with the text preserved in the book of entries: "Portrait of Emperor Nicholas I of work.. Salnikova, died in 1880". I have to admit for the truth, although in the registers of the Church of the resurrection of Lazarus, 1877-1909, 1871-1880, 1881-1886. there is no mention of the death of Nicholas A. Salnikova.

Signature works Salnikova stored in the state historical Museum, state Tretyakov gallery, VMP. The portraits, executed in grisaille technique, copies of prints or daguerreotypes. Many researchers considered them bland. It really is a very detailed, thorough and a bit boring copy. But what cannot be denied Salnikova is in the precision of possession of a brush, dotted line. Enamel in the grisaille technique at Salnikova is more perfect than working in color. If in the first case, he methodically copied, then the second seemed to forget about the thumbnail and boldly worked with a brush. Therefore, in grisaille it is closer to Yakov Shaposhnikov than when working with color, although the net works Shaposhnikov in this technique we do not know.

On one of the portraits Salnikov says: "I Wrote. //Artist.// Nicholas //Salnikov// recovering/ //Ivan//shakalov.". Ivan Nehalem also lived in the parish of Church of the resurrection of Lazarus in the house № 60. (Masters finitary Affairs of the parish Church of the resurrection of Lazarus in Rostov. M. M. Fedorov)
