Was pet of the Moscow school of painting, sculpture and architecture. In 1861-1862 he received from the Imperial St. Petersburg Academy of arts silver medal for the sketch from nature, and in 1864 — the same medal for the painting "Girl with a book." On the academic exhibition in 1885, there are his paintings: "Head of moor", "Under the laurels", "On vacation" and "a Study of the moor". (F. I. Bulgakov, "Our artists")
