(1828. 23.4(5.5).-1899) of German origin. From 1852 to 1855 he worked as a designer in Riga. Then a short time in Tallinn. Decorator at the Directorate of Moscow (1856-62) and the St. Petersburg Imperial theatres (1860-71) . Participated in the design performances: Mayakovskogo Large t-RA [choreographer. Theodore (Shion), Frederick, and others] - "Giselda, or Gypsies" (1854), "the Naiad and the fisherman" (1855), "Italian night" (1857), "Le Corsaire" (1858, 1865, 1868), "a Quarrelsome wife" (1859), "SATA-Neill, or Love and hell" (1860, 1870), "Faust" (1861, 1866, 1875), "Two days in Venice" (1862), La Esmeralda (1866, 1872), "La Sylphide" (1867); the Mariinsky t-PA "Kon"to-Gorbunok" (1864, choreographer. A. Saint-Leon), "King Candaul" (1868, choreographer. M. I. Petipa). A follower of A. A. Roller, B. in his "on duty" scenery played a spectacular show of painting, a little associated with music and choreography (pseudo-Russian style B. sharply criticized Vladimir Stasov).
