Leon Yang Wyczolkowski (Pol. Leon Wyczółkowski Jan; 11 APR 1852, Guta Miastkowski near Siedlce — December 27, 1936, Warsaw) — Polish painter, graphic artist and draughtsman, one of the leading representatives of the movement of Young Poland.
Leon Wyczolkowski began his artistic education in Warsaw in the Class rysankova, under the leadership of Anton Kaminski, Rafal Jezevica and Wojciech Gerson. In the years 1875-1877 he continued his education in Munich, and then at Cracow Academy of fine arts, in the class of Jan Matejko. In 1897 Wyczolkowski becoming one of the founders of the Association of Polish artists "Thing". In 1895-1911 years he was a Professor at the Krakow Academy of fine arts, and in 1934-1936 — Professor at the Warsaw Academy.
Leon Wyczolkowski first wrote in a realistic manner, giving preference to historical topics. After his trip to Paris in the late XIX century in his work the influence of the Impressionists. Now the artist also creates landscapes and genre paintings with strong lighting effects. The following was short-lived fascination with symbolism (picture of a fossil druid). Acquainted with the journalist and collector Felix Jasinski, Wyczolkowski interested in the topic of the East. Also wrote still lifes.
In 1946 in Bydgoszcz, where the artist is buried, opened his Museum.
