Description of the artwork «Mechanical Turk»

The "Mechanical Turk" was an invention, a fraudulent chess machine from 1770 that was apparently able to play a strong game of chess against a human opponent.

The fraud was later exposed. A small human was hidden inside the machine, who unrecognizedly controlled the moves of the "Mechanical Turk".

My picture shows the "Mechanical Turk" who doesn't play chess, but paints a picture at the easel.

Like a painter who mechanically implements an idea and suddenly thinks that he should actually paint the picture completely differently.

I painted the picture in 2021 in Tbilisi, Georgia.
