Russian painter, master of genre painting and portraiture.

Was born in Ryazan. From 1858 to 1867 he studied at the Academy of fine arts in engraving and painting with Professor F. I. Jordan, and B. P. Villevalde, P. M. Shamshina. Received medals: 1862 - 2 silver;1863 - 1 silver; 1864 - 2 silver; 1865 - 1 silver. In 1867 he received the title of class artist of 3 degrees, in 1868 - class artist of 2 degrees. In 1872 he received the title of class artist for his own portrait.

Participant of exhibitions of the Academy of arts. Famous works: "the Commemoration of the dead in the cemetery", "Old woman, paint a lurid paintings", "Watercolors at Moscow", "Amateur musician, young", "Amateur musician, man" the portrait of Mr. Safonov.

One time was familiar with I. P. Pozhalostina, the future of the famous engraver. With him in Solotcha, near Ryazan, they perfected the art of drawing, copying drawings by V. F. Timm of the "Russian art sheet".
