Biography and information

Ekaterina Cornelian, Petrocochino (nee – Bodarevsky was born in Odessa in 1852, died in MEUDON, France, in 1938) was a professional artist, a member of the Odessa society of fine arts and the society of South Russian Artists, the organizer and participant of charity events, collector. Highly valued art, music and literature, E. K., Petrocochino was a graduate of the Odessa drawing school, class of painting. Had the sister known portraitist N. To. Bodarevskyand distant relative of one of the founders of abstractionism – V. V. Kandinsky.

The characteristics of creativity E. K., Petrocochino: if the early period of the artist's work associated with still life, then in later periods it specialized in such genres as portrait, landscape, and sentimental story. Family Petrocochino, like other immigrants from the Greek island of Chios, had a great influence on the cultural, social and economic development of Odessa, occupying a high social position. She was married to businessman and philanthropist Odessa Yevstratov M., Petrocochino, the artist for many years has gained a foothold and support in their noble endeavours. In addition to charity, the wife of Petrocochino were engaged in collecting art. Their collection consisted of paintings of Catherine of Corneliani, and from the works of domestic and foreign artists.

Nowadays there are 47 paintings from the collection of Petrocochino, among them works by famous artists, Wanderers and young talented artists, supporters of the avant-garde movements and schools of thought: K. Kostandi, N. Bodarevsky, G. A. Ladyzhenskaya, L. Pasternak, N.. OkolovichP. Nilus, I. A. Pavela, G. Golovkova, N. D. Kuznetsovaetc.
