Biography and information

A native of St. Petersburg, the son of the medallist V. E. Alekseev. He received his primary education in the school at the PMD, then GISTI (Mining engineering school at St. Petersburg Institute of Technology) (1839-1843), after which mining became a conductor of the 1st class. Attended as an auditor in the class of Professor p. P. Utkin at the Imperial Academy of arts (1848). At the end of the IAH (1859) received the title of artist 3rd degree and the rank of the 14th class. Medalist PMD (1845), senior medalist PMD (1855-1893). Performed duties as adjunct Professor of the Imperial Academy of arts in medallic art (1871), academician (1872). Was the last teacher class medal of the Academy after his departure, the medal class was closed (1895).
