Description of the artwork «Russian camp in Turkestan»

Exhibited at the auction "Russian seasons" (estimate: 145000 - 160000.(e.), the picture of the "Russian camp in Turkestan was accompanied by such a provenance:

- Oil on canvas, late 1860s-early 1870s, on the stretcher stamp of the St. Petersburg collector Pavel Viktorovich Delarov "Paul Delaroff"... V. V. Vereshchagin traveled. Participated in the fighting of the Russian troops, including in Turkestan (1867-1870). Impressed by what he saw and experienced he wrote battle scenes, genre and ethnographic paintings, landscapes, portraits. The funds stored timing pattern of the original album of the artist (5,7x7,7 cm, inventory number R-35008), depicting the same theme that was used when creating the submitted work. "Judging by the uniform depicted in the film soldier, this episode relates to the Turkestan campaign of 1869. This is undoubtedly a shocking story could hardly come up with another author, and be filled with someone other than the positivist Vereshchagin, well representing the life of a military detachment in Turkestan. Was it the joke of the painter or the positivist conviction that any fact is useful in studying the truth of life, whatever it was...it is quite consistent with the character of Vasily Vasilyevich Vereshchagin, who himself has not recognized any stereotypes."
