Biography and information

Schedule, watercolorist. The author of color lithographs and watercolors

to numerous literary works. He studied at the Academy of Arts (1913 – 1922) D. N. Kardovsky studied in a private Studio

V. E. Savinsky, while attending also New art Studio

where, then, was taught by B. M. Kustodiev, E. E. Lansere, and M. V. Dobuzhinsky.

In the 1920-ies the artist painted for the magazine "Begemot", "Onion", "Crocodile". Performed cycles of easel works: "NEP" (1932), "the West" (1932 – 1934), "the Nude modeling" (1930-e years). Wrote women's and children's portraits, he created sketches of costumes

for productions of Leningrad theatres (1940 – 1943).

Rudakov led an active teaching career, he worked as an instructor of the art Studio for workers (1918 – 1920), taught at the Academy of fine Arts (1930)

and on the graphics Department INPII – IZHSA (1930 – 1949).

Graphic style Rudakova inherent picturesqueness. Mastered to perfection by many techniques, he prefers colorful – watercolor, color printing (lithography

and monotype).

With illustrations of the novels of Zola and guy de Maupassant Rudakov entered the history of book graphics, though no less known for his works for the works of Russian classics – "Eugene Onegin" (1934), novel by L. N. Tolstoy's "War and peace" (1941 – 1948).

Born in St. Petersburg. The representative of the Leningrad school schedules of the classical movement based on nature and traditional techniques. Studied at the famous p. P. Chistyakov in Tsarskoye Selo, in the private Studio of V. E. Savinsky and in the Studio of D. N. Kardovsky, visited the New art workshop, taught by B. M. Kustodiev, E. E. Lansere, and M. V. Dobuzhinsky, from 1913 to 1922 he studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of arts. Independent work began in 1923 in the satirical magazine "the Onion", "Hippo", "Crocodile", dabbled in children's book. Fluent in many techniques (watercolor, pastel, gouache, lithography, etching, drypoint, monotype, engraving on celluloid), prefers colorful –watercolor, color printing (lithography and monotype), ink, gouache, varieties water based. The virtuosity of the master of high culture line, touch, form was especially evident in the cycles of easel painting "Nepmen" (1928 – 32), "the West" (1932 – 34), "the Nude modeling" (1930). Favourite genre Rudakova – portrait. A rare gift psychologization , the ability to subtly convey the features of typical individual and in human form was especially evident in the work related to illustrations of the works of guy de Maupassant ("Chunk", "Dear friend", "Life"), Emile Zola ("Defeat", "Nan"), Alexander Pushkin ("Eugene Onegin"), L. N. Tolstoy ("War and peace", "Anna Karenina"), etc. Interesting and theatrical work of K. I. Rudakov – the costumes and makeup. He taught for almost 20 years (1930 – 49) on the graphics Department INPII – IZHSA in Leningrad. He died in Moscow in 1949.
