In 1967 Ivan Kalaskin graduated from the Repin Institute of arts in Repin, Yuri Neprintsev workshop.

Participant of exhibitions since 1967.

Member of the Leningrad Union of artists since 1968.

Wrote paintings, genre paintings on military and historical-revolutionary themes, portraits.

Honored artist of the Russian Federation (1997).
