She was born in 1940 in Japan, where she lived and studied until 1962.
Then decided to continue her education in the USA. She began her career as a freelancer for a number of magazines, such as The New York Times, Newsweek, Time, Forbes, Sports Illustrated, etc.
Since the mid-nineties, specializes in illustrating children's books, fantasy book covers and posters. The New York Times wrote about her work: "Illustrations by K.I. Kraft - a real miracle... They invariably astonish the careful drawing of the smallest detail and a lot of surprising discoveries.
The fantasies of those who believe in miracles and enchantresses, in beautiful balls and in a happy fate, are brought to life with the illustrations of Kinuko Kraft, whose works are inspired by the paintings of French painters of the 17th and 18th centuries...
The most famous and popular illustrations in our country. are illustrations of the fairy tale of Cinderella, it turns out that she has not one illustration of Cinderella, and more than 10 subjects.
And also, just imagine. A Japanese woman! Living in the United States! DRAWING BABA YAGA! Yes, yes-)) She illustrated a collection of russian fairy tales--))))--
But these are not the only fairy tales she colorfully depicts. King Midas, The Twelve Dancing Princesses, Pegasus, Cupid and Psyche, The Adventures of Tom Thumb, Sleeping Beauty, Mother Goose, etc.
Apart from that, she also painted simple pictures with different subjects.
One of my favourite paintings is of an extraordinary woman, Eleanor or Alenora of Aquitaine, the most beautiful girl of the Middle Ages. She was born in 1122 and died at the age of 82, having probably lived the most turbulent and eventful life of all medieval personalities...
She was married twice, first to the king of France and then divorced from him to become queen of England. Her son, Richard the Lionheart, is well known.
