Painter of landscape and genre painter, pupil of Joseph Orient, in Vienna, developed further in Dresden under the leadership of A. Thiele. Worked until 1718 in Brunswick, and then to the end of his life in London. Wrote landscapes with figures in the taste of Poelenburgh, coastal views and scenes of everyday life in the manner of A. Ostade. His paintings, generally well composed, strong colours and very finely executed, are in Vienna, Dresden, Kassel, Braunschweig and other galleries. In addition to painting, he studied engraving and produced, among other things, eight beautiful etchings depicting landscapes with ruins and beautiful human figures.
