Painter, graphic artist, theater. artist, Nar. hood. USSR (1965). Studied at the Stroganov Uch-school in Moscow (1913-18) and Mosk. VKhUTEMAS (1918-23). From 1926 member of the OST. Author of genre compositions, portraits, landscapes, graphic works. Worked as the main artist in the t-re MGSPS (later T-R them.City Council, 1924-40), Mosk. Muz. t-re im.Stanislavsky and Nemirovich-Danchenko Moscow (1941-49), the Maly theatre (1951). Compared in the manner of stagecraft with the artist Vladimir Dmitriev. The Winner Of The St. St. (1949, 1951, 1952).
