Born in the family of an officer. Since 1959 he studied at the Krasnopresnenskaya art school. From 1966 to 1972 he studied at the Moscow architectural Institute. After his graduation work in the design organizations combined with classroom graphics, and then painting (from the late 70's). From 1979 to 1988 he worked at the combine of monumental and decorative art. Since 1977, he exhibited his works in a basement on the Malaya Gruzinskaya street, where in 1985 they were noticed by new York dealers and collectors. Since 1987 his paintings have been shown widely in the USA and then in Western Europe and the Soviet Union (Russia).
